AIO Ethics Charter
Purpose
This charter defines the ethical standards and operating principles required of individuals and institutions participating in AIO governance and decision-making, ensuring trust and consistency across the organization.
Scope
- staff, committees, board members, advisors, reviewers, and core contributors
- rule-making, budgeting, RFC review, audits, external collaboration, and official communication
Core principles
Transparency
Major decisions must be recorded publicly, including rationale and voting outcomes.
Fairness
All participants must be given equal opportunity to speak, review, and contribute.
Accountability
Responsibility for decisions and execution must be explicit and reportable.
Integrity
Private gain must not distort institutional judgment; communication must remain faithful to facts.
Inclusivity
Diverse viewpoints, minorities, and vulnerable groups must be respected.
Compliance
All relevant laws, regulations, and contractual obligations must be observed.
Conflict-of-interest management
- Potential and actual conflicts must be disclosed in advance.
- Participants with conflicts must recuse themselves from discussion and voting.
- The nature of the conflict and the handling outcome must be documented publicly.
- Intentional concealment may trigger warning, role restriction, or removal.
Enforcement
Alleged violations are subject to preliminary review and, where necessary, independent investigation. The subject of review must be given an opportunity to respond and appeal.
Review and revision
This charter should be reviewed at least annually. Amendments should be publicly reviewed before adoption.
