Support a Public-Interest Standard

AIO operates without membership fees or royalties. Support from individuals, organizations, and foundations who share our vision safeguards AIO's independence.

Principle

Supporters hold no influence over the standard

AIO's support policy is simple: supporters have no influence whatsoever over the content of the standard. Support is used solely for AIO's operating costs, research costs, and tool development, and every use is published quarterly on the Operational & Financial Transparency page. Financial support is separate from membership and roles (Member, Partner, Advisor, Fellow) and from Public Supporter (vision-signer) status — support buys independence, not influence.

Ways to support

Three paths

Individual support

One-time or recurring donation

A one-time or recurring donation from an individual who shares the vision. All support can be listed in the public roll (anonymous option available).

Institutional support

Foundations, companies & NGOs

An annual support commitment. No special influence. The fact of support is disclosed publicly.

Research grant

Earmarked for specific research

Support earmarked for vocabulary-extension research in a specific domain (e.g. healthcare, education). All research outputs are published publicly.

Use of funds

What support is spent on

  • Drafting and reviewing the standard specification (fellow stipends)
  • AIO 20003 measurement and reproduction costs (API calls, data hosting)
  • Running the quarterly consensus meetings (venue, interpretation, accessibility support)
  • Multilingual translation review
  • Web, tooling, and infrastructure maintenance

Transparency

Every use of support is disclosed
